Joey Alders joins BlackArts Racing for 2020 Asian F3 Certified by FIA

BlackArts Racing is pleased to announce the signing of 20 year old Dutch driver Joey Alders to its Asian F3 squad.

Just last weekend, the highly talented Dutch driver took his 5th straight win in Asia Formula Renault, and in the process, the 2019 AFR Driver’s Championship in the OLOI Powered by BAR Formula Renault 2.0.

Only two years ago this month, he had stepped into a formula car for the first time in ADAC F4 and competed for the 2018 season in Europe, after having formally competed in the European karting scene since 2010.

In Asian F3, Alders is no stranger to the Tatuus T-318 F3 car, just three weeks ago taking part in pre-season testing at Sepang International F`1 Circuit with BlackArts Racing at its recently-opened Sepang base. During the testing, Alders took to the top of the time sheets and looks to further his strong pace this week as the Official Pre-Season Test continues. The Asian F3 pre-season test began in Sepang on Sunday, while Alders was competing in Zhuhai in Asia Formula Renault. In the Sunday evening test BlackArts Racing enjoyed strong results with driver Yu Kanamaru setting the fastest times of the evening testing. Alders and Kanamaru are joined this season at BAR by Swiss pilot Thomas Luedi, who returns to the Asian F3 series ready to take the 2020 Masters season win.

Tuesday morning, Official Testing will continue from 7-9am, followed by a break in track activities until Friday when there will be a final test session, official practice, qualifying one and two, and Race One. Due to the Sepang International F1 Circuit schedule, Race Two and Race Three will both take place on Sunday.

After this weekend, the series will head to the Middle East for the Dubai Autodrome in support of the Dubai 24 Hours on January 10-11, followed the next week at the Yas Marina F1 Circuit in Abu Dhabi on January 17-18. The series will then return to Asia and the Sepang International F1 Circuit on Feb 14-15, before concluding at Thailand’s Buriram International Circuit on February 23, with the final two rounds running with the Asian Le Mans Series.

Bill O’Brien, Team Principal: “It has been an honor to work with Joey, he dominated the 2019 Asia Formula Renault Championship and brought BAR its 5th straight AFR Driver’s Championship victory and helped us seal our 4th straight AFR Team Championship win. For him to step up to Asian F3 is a natural progression for such a talented young driver, and he has already shown the ability to quickly step up to the F3 car. We wish him the best of luck these next few months.”

All races will be televised and live streamed online, please visit the Asian F3 facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/F3AsianChampionship/ to watch live streaming this weekend, with additional links to be posted before the event.
