Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup (NEC) Race Package

Formula Renault NEC – The Established Pathway to F1

The Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup is commonly regarded as an important stepping stone on the path for future racing professionals.

The NEC has hosted distinguished talents in the past such as F1 drivers Valtteri Bottas, Carlos Sainz, Daniil Kvyat and Lando Norris.

The Formula Renault 2.0 has been designed to create affordable, yet high-performance competition – a broad scope of mechanical and aerodynamic setup adjustments are allowed, but in prohibiting modifications to the engine and the ECU, among other parts of the car, AFR ensures identical performance for everyone.

Races are contested on world-famous circuits including Hockenheim, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Nürburgring and a return to the UK at Silverstone after a year hiatus.

Progression from NEC and Eurocup has been strengthened further for 2018 with an amendment to the weekend format for the NEC to mimic that of the Eurocup.

Weekends will now consist of two 30 minute practice sessions, before a 15 minute qualifying session in the morning and a 30 minute plus 1 lap race – one on each day of the weekend.
